Greetings ~
Well, we headed back to Cook Forest State Park in Pennsylvania on October 1, 2026. This was our second trip there in 2026. We had gone in June. I was raised there back in the 1950s and 1960s. My parents had built a house on the River Road back starting in 1957. My father died in 1967 and my mother followed him in 1970. Mom and I had moved there to live in 1968. But she got ill and we had to return to Akron, Ohio.
I have many fond memories of the home there. So, since I married in 1973, my wife and I have returned to Cook Forest several times over the years.
On both trips in June and October, we stayed at a rented cabin in the woods. There are many, many cabins for rent around Cook Forest. This one is nice as it is all by itself on several acres. There's plenty of wildlife and a lot of peace.
Towns around the area are Clarion, Brookville, Leeper, Marionville, Sigel and others. Plus there are tons of Dollar Generals to shop at. There are pizza joints, ice cream parlors, gift shops, etc., all over the forest. At the end of this blog, I have put links to several of the shops and restaurants to check out.
If your looking for a campground and/or just somewhere to go to "get away from it all", check out Cook Forest State Park. There is plenty to do or, you can simply relax and get a good rest.
